After an argument, a police officer in Kebi State stabbed his partner to death.
ASP Shu’aibu Sani-Malunfashi was reportedly stabbed in the left rib with a pair of scissors by ASP Abdullahi Garba, who was also one of his coworkers.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, said in a statement that the two officers got into an argument that turned into a fight in front of Garba’s shop.
The Kebbi State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora, has asked the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, or PPRO, to look into what happened.
The statement said that the CP had condemned the unfortunate event and said that it went against the police force’s training, rules, and other laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It went on to say,
“What happened took place on October 1, 2022. ASP Abdullahi Garba used scissors to stab ASP Shu’aibu Sani-Malunfashi in the left ribs during the fight.
The statement said that when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Argungu, got the report, he quickly went to the scene, arrested the wrongdoing officer, and got the exhibit back (weapon).
It also said that the DPO rushed Sani-Malunfashi to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where a doctor confirmed that he was dead.
In the statement, it said that Garba was taken into custody right away and held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Birnin Kebbi. It also said that the case had been sent to the homicide section for a quiet investigation to find out what happened.
